Contract Value

£200 million

Prosurv were appointed to provide professional Quantity Surveying and Project Management services on the construction of the new Bay Campus for Swansea University.

We helped to develop, coordinate and conclude a detailed specification of architectural information and worked closely with Swansea University’s Estates Department and various Heads of Faculties to refine the University’s Brief and ensure that the project was capable of delivery within the strict funding restrictions constraining the University’s Budget.

Prosurv tendered and coordinated the complete remediation and reclamation of the former BP Oil Refinery prior to it being shortlisted as a suitable University site. This involved the removal and treatment of hydrocarbon contamination and negotiation alongside the Environmental Engineer and Environmental Authorities to ensure the site was classified as suitable for use by the NRW prior to a Planning Submission.

Prosurv were involved in the initial budgeting and production of cashflow which assisted the securing of funding. During the Construction Phase, Prosurv liaised with the Fund Surveyor to agree monthly draw downs. We also provided detailed cost analysis to assist the University in obtaining grant funding for research and development. This included detailed breakdowns of base build and fit out associated with the Academic Buildings.

.

Prosurv also tendered and developed the brief for the IT, Data and Wi-Fi Installation which was installed prior to Student arrival, developed the Dining and Bar facilities and tendered and managed the installation of these together with the construction of associated administration, facilities management and retail unit fit-outs.

Prosurv managed CAT A and CAT B budgets for the Developer and the University with CAT C installations following Practical Completion. The College of Engineering within the Bay Campus required management of the design, implementation and relocation of existing laboratories, workshops and testing facilities.

Prosurv also met on a regular basis with The Prince’s Foundation to ensure that the design vision was consistent with the concept Architect’s vision and the Architect of detail adhered to the vision.
