Work has commenced on site of the new engineered river channel at the former Victoria Ground site in Stoke on Trent. Strict 2m social distancing measures have been put in place in accordance with Government guidelines to protect all workers.
The scheme, which forms part of Stoke on Trent City Council’s ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) SUNRISE Project, is being led by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, for whom Prosurv are providing Employer’s Agent services for the construction works.
Once complete, the new river channel will offer a huge environmental improvement to the current concrete river channel and will compliment the next phase of residential development of the wider site for the land owner, St Modwen Homes.
The design of the new channel features innovative sustainable techniques associated with the re-use of tree roots from trees felled on site, to act as stabilisation on the new river embankments.
Prosurv are proud to be part of the delivery team on what is a standout project for the city and surrounding area.
